A New Bag and Clutch!
We're (already) closing in on the 2015 year! The whole year has been wonderful for me personally as well as for iThinkSew. With over 140 patterns released this year including works from our partnering designers, we have grown with our sewing community in the last 12 months than ever before. To celebrate here are the two new patterns for the this week! The Josephine Bag and the Cecilia Clutch.
The Josephine Bag is a smart and versatile bag that works great for combining fabrics of different color. The tote bag translates very well through the seasons and functions perfectly when made with materials such as leather, suede or the common cotton fabric.
The Cecilia Clutch is the latest addition to our strongest collection of clutches & pouches! The clutch is perfect to be made with suede or cotton but I recommend leather over anything else. The petite size makes it perfect to be used for quick outings or party nights.

Beginner Big Bags!
Most of the big bag types - diaper bags, Boston bags, etc. - require at least an intermediate level of sewing so beginners are usually left to work their way up. As such, a lot of my new sewing students would end up looking for beginner friendly large bags to no avail. With these people in mind I set out to complete the task of creating big bags with the quality of other expert sewing level patterns.
The results are three fantastic new additions to the iThinkSew bags collection! The Kirstin Bag is an accessory heavy bag that can use optional double cap rivets, eyelets, leather straps, and twist & locks. For those teachers or novices sewers looking for something new, the Kirstin Bag can provide the beginner sewers with an intro to these accessories!

Frameless Framed Patterns?
During my years as a professional pattern designer, one inquiry I heard the most was the question regarding the frames. Unfortunately, these frames often get discontinued by the supplier as the years go by. One such a victim was the Annalise Metal Clutch - one of the first designs I've ever released as a professional, the pattern is one of my proud early achievements! Featuring a fantastic design, it became one of the obscure patterns that became hard to find frames for...
So I went ahead and remade the Annalise Metal Clutch design without the frames! The Agne Bag is just the Annalise Metal Clutch without the metal frames. You can enjoy the original Annalise Clutch's design without the hassle for looking the frames! The pattern is suitable for most sewers in terms of difficulty and this design was really made as an homage to my early years as a designer. It was really nostalgic for me to go back and refer to those early sketches & files to make something that respected its design yet new enough to stand on it's own without any metal frames!
But the revisions don't end there! This is where the Conary Doctor Bag also comes in! Traditionally, doctor bags were designed to securely carry around as many items as possible due to the irregularity of the doctor's utensils. This was mostly achieved with the frame opening and I decided to tackle this!

Fold Overs!?
The Fold Overs are here! The flexible design allow all of you to hold the increasing amount of accessories you would need to carry with your smartphones! Due to that fold over clutch became a hot design and still is to this date. Not only is the design flexible but so are its purposes - able to fit the day and night bag needs, all seasonal apparels from thick jackets to thin summer tank tops.

I had actually drafts of similar designs before in early 2010. Although it ended up joining the ranks of "drawn but never finished" works. I found myself recently wanting to do it again, so with it I decided to complete the pattern, instructions, and samples before the first week of October!

Fringe Bag Fun!
Clutches, Hobo Bags, and More this week with the Fringe Design Bags!
I've tackled the Fringe Bag topic for the first time after a long rest! Fringe was first popularized in the 1920s as a modern look. It was also highly associated with the hippies in the 1960s.
Even before the 20th century though, fringes could be found all around the world in in history as it originally served as a type of gutter that repelled rainwater from the wearer.
During the Renaissance though, fringe became a wealth and luxury item - particularly in Western Europe - by placing them on shoulders & cuffs. The current iteration of fringes can be most seen with bags, clutches, and dresses as they are still a popular style to this date! Following this, I made three different designs based on the fringe look!
The smallest of the three fringe designs, the Sorena Fringe Cross Bag
features a strap long enough for a shoulder length carry experience.
Maybe that's too long? No worries as the straps are also adjustable!
The Karen Fringe Hobo Bag is a large Hobo Bag able to store multiple
items with ease!
Finally, the Nina Fringe Clutch is the representative
partner in crime for your night out!

Bags And Cameras
Smaller digital cameras have started to fade as smartphones became widely available & entry level DSLRs becoming cheaper. As such, I personally find small camera bags harder to find with each passing year. But in contrast, more and more DSLR can be found in the wild and with it an array of bags to carry along.The majority of these camera companions are mostly dark in color & feature modest designs.
I decided to spice this up a bit! Although I still carry around a black and tasteless camera bag, I wanted to bring more attention to a creative take onto the genre. I suggest using fabrics that are colorful, bright, or unique to give a special spin to your camera bag.
I was initially hesitant on a camera bag design due to the safety issues regarding the contents. But with the pattern instructions including methods to make safe inserts with packaging foam or sponge & a suede covering - the camera is sure to be secure within the bag at all times! With three different patterns, I'm sure one of them will fit your needs and carrying tastes!

Satchel, Satchel!
I always believed that the satchel bag was best in the fall season. The bag was traditionally seen and worn by the mail men in the States or by the students in England. These bags have been the best for on the move! So I would wish to spread the love satchel bags during this season of fall!

Laptops For Back To School!
Since my youngest is a now a high school student. The back to school concept now isn't the same as it was when they were younger. I don't look to buy or design pencil cases and lunch boxes. These days it's always been laptop cases & and other portable cases.
With slim laptops such as the MacBook now a popular norm among the young generation, I found myself with more requests from both my sons to make them a sleeve. This week, I went ahead and finished those designs just in time for the back to school season! Introducing three different casual laptop bags, I wanted something that would cater towards a younger audience than the traditional formal bags!

Musette TROUBLE!
I've been looking into a method to design a Musette Bag into our collection for quite some time. But always had trouble starting. Unlike some other projects which their names are defined by the designs, the Musette Bag is defined by its purpose. The purpose being long travel with lots of storage.
With that in mind, I started on three different Musette bag styles. The first being the most popular one the Frankie Musette Bag. This was based on the original design used the American soldiers in WWII.
The next one was made with the thought of cycling for a long distance. It was mostly based on most cycling bag, but shying away from the original design just a bit. I wanted it to be a bit more stylish in design & feel. I hope it comes across as such to you as well!
The last but not least design was the Corey Musette Bag. This one took influence from the traditional Korean travel bag. Traditionally Koreans would use a design cylinder shaped bag such as this while traveling on foot. This has to be my personal favorite out the three Musette bag.

Baby Travel Sets!
A friend of mine had told me before that long travels would be easier if the child was given a doll to play with during the ride.
But since my youngest is now in high school such needs were foreign to me and as a result helped a lot in the creation process! Thanks to the suggestion I thought of creating a traveling set for parents who wished for smoother trip. With this I was hoping to keep all the children occupied keep them from boredom.
The Baby Travel Set is a combination of old patterns in a discounted set
to provide parents with a fun trip for the whole family! Including the
Avery Visor to keep eyes protected, the Edan Baby Backpack to store the
child's personal belongings, and the Dasher Doggy Doll to keep them
occupied during the long ride.

THE Summer Sandals!
Hello everyone!
I've been getting really hot weathers these day, so to get through the weather, I've been wearing lightly to survive the heat. With that in mind I decided to get some summer wear done, so started on two sandals.

The gladiator sandals were actually my daughters idea. Being her favorite wear around this time of the year. Though she won't be able to wear these, but nonetheless she loved working on this. Thinking how adorable they would look on baby feet.

The second sandal is the Payton Sandals! This one was for having a secure and comfortable fit on a child. With it's shoelaces the shoe is almost sure to stay on. Although it may look a little warm, I think it will be great and breezy for the summer.

Buckets and Beachs!
Dear Sewers,
To introduce the Kiera Beach bag, I can't go on without mentioning the Martha Market Bag - an oldie among our collection of bags. The Martha Bag was popular among the iThinkSew community, but I always received requests on a larger version of the bag. Closer to a beach bag. This gave me the idea of making a variation to the design - a larger creation yet retaining it's original fashionable points.
The first bucket bag to enter our long growing list of bags! And because of that it's a little special, as it's my first try at such a design. But besides just being special for me, it's a comfortable companion that can be used for all purposes. Although the design of the bag can look rather simple, if you choose your materials carefully such as the strap, eyelet, and the right choice of fabric will make your bucket bag stand out!
Similar to it's larger bag counterpart, the Natalie Cosmetic Bucket Pouch was designed for convenience, though the purpose is rather different. With the bag having a larger storage, the pouch is more useful for - as the name suggests - smaller things such as your cosmetic collection or things like your phone, wallet and maybe even small tablets!

The Laptop Briefcases!
Dear Sewers,
While preparing for the Father's Day sale last week, it was evident not too many of my designs were aimed for men. It felt like a challenge so I went ahead and designed two briefcases, the Harley and Kayce Briefcases!
The Harley Laptop Briefcase is a fashionable companion that will surely come handy in any situations, however the project is definitely recommended for at least intermediate to experienced sewers. The amount of pockets on the design is sure to be an attractive factor for many everyday users.
On the other hand, the Kayce Briefcase is a great project for beginners! Simpler in nature compared to the Harley Briefcase, the Kayce Bag is a great fit with the casual or office fashion.
Though I say Father's Day now, originally I made these two bags for my personal uses. I needed a briefcase for myself but it was becoming difficult & too futile looking for the perfect briefcase... So I decided to start on my own briefcase, which lead to the two pattern projects released today!

Mens Bags?
Dear Sewers,
Prepare for Father's Day with the Men's Duffle Bag!
With Father's Day coming in the coming weeks, I wanted to help all the people make the best gift this year! Starting with the Charles Men's Duffle Bag and the Nathan Traveler's Pouch. The Charles Men's Duffle Bag features a stylish design with a spacious environment with several pockets while the Nathan Traveler's Pouch is a simple project meant to be used as a makeup pouch or a shaving kit.
Since the Baylee Cross Bag, both my sons have been a bit more acute to the bag designs and the Charles Men's Duffle Bag was something they showed a huge love for. Utilizing several different accessories such as eyelets, double cap rivets, and snaps gave it professional finish - which I think attracted their eyes in addition to the leather material. I'd also recommend using your normal "hand made" fabrics instead with colorful fabric choices for those that might appeal to the female crowd!

Summer Wears for the New Season!

Recently with the warm weather here, I've began to try to think of a nice pair room shoes for the summer!.... Which also made me look back on my past summer shoes. The Valerie Baby Flip-flop was the one that I looked at the most out of all of my previous summer works. Although I was avoiding flip flops for a bit since making of the hole for the flip was difficult and troublesome, but I recently found a new solution! So I decided try making a flip flop again :). This time however I made it in a size to fit me, so for anyone looking for a summer flip flop - this will be perfect!
